Starting pottery at home, at school or in a club? We have prepared the specially priced START set for you.

It contains all the essentials a pottery workshop needs:

The START set is built around a fully equipped 40-litre ceramic kiln with a controller and kiln furniture (shelves and posts). It connects to a 230 V socket and provides 3.6 kW of power, allowing firing up to 1320°C…

The clay supply and decorating materials (glazes, engobes and colours) are matched so they can be used, applied and fired together. The selected tools are mainly intended for handbuilding and make further ceramic work easier.

Our START set gives you a functional pottery studio with all the essentials you need to begin.

For an unbeatable price, you get a pottery studio with nothing essential missing. The service is comprehensive too: delivery within the Czech Republic and documented operator training are included. We offer an extended four-year warranty on the Kittec CB 40 ceramic kiln.

START SET – KITTEC CB 40 CERAMIC KILN WITH TC 44 + MATERIALS AND TOOLS

Special offers on studio kilns

Studio kilns cover a broad range of models with firing chambers up to 80 litres. Front-loading chamber kilns are intended particularly for pottery studios in homes and schools, including publicly funded organisations. Statistically, the bestselling chamber kilns have an internal capacity of around 100 litres.

The kilns in our range differ in several parameters, the most important being:

  • size: the number in the kiln model name indicates the firing chamber capacity in litres
  • heated sides: elements in the side walls (2 sides), side walls and floor (3 sides), or side walls, floor, back and door (5 sides)
  • 400 V / 16 A (three-phase)
  • maximum temperature, power and weight – broadly speaking, the higher the better
  • casing: stainless steel or durable paint finish
  • removable or fixed stand, tabletop model (table supplied separately)
  • origin and brand: leading manufacturers from Germany

The kilns we sell all come with the same comprehensive service. Every kiln in our range includes delivery within the Czech Republic, documented operator training and a three-year warranty…

All our kilns fit through doorways with 80 cm frames. Delivery means transport and unloading outside the first entrance to the customer's building. Chamber kiln equipment always includes 4 refractory shelves, 36 spacer posts and kiln wash.

For those interested in premium ROHDE top-loading kilns, we will gladly provide a current quotation for the TE 75 MCC+, 100 MCC+, 130 MCC+ and TE 150 MCC+. Top versions from the professional ROHDE TE-S range are also available: the TE 95 S and the TE 145 S, which adds an extension ring and a heated floor.

Much has already been written about choosing the criteria for a ceramic kiln…
Discussions often focus on how ware is loaded and the shape of the firing chamber: should the kiln load from the top or from the front?

The first choice seems naturally to imply either a round or rectangular chamber. This can lead to a small oversight that causes potters to miss an excellent type of kiln.

We also offer kilns combining top loading with a rectangular firing chamber: chest kilns.
These are kilns from the premium brandROHDEdesignatedTE-Q (Quattro). When we first began working withROHDE20 years ago, we sold many of these kilns because they offered an excellent compromise. They proved extremely durable and still fire tirelessly and reliably at high temperatures in the workshops that bought them. Later, mainly because they cost much more than comparable round kilns, sales virtually stopped, apart from enthusiasts and customers whose products suited a rectangular footprint but who did not want a front-loader. The situation has now changed: the price difference between rectangular and round top-loading kilns is minimal; we consider them all almost equally affordable. Many potters have already noticed in the new price lists that buying a kiln fromROHDEtheTE - Qrange now offers excellent value…

Some reasons to choose a rectangular top-loading kiln:
– much cheaper than a chamber kiln of the same size
– only slightly more expensive than a round or oval kiln of the same size
– robust like a chamber kiln, with comparable weight, up to 100% greater than a comparable round top-loader
– made with the same quantity of insulating materials, and constructed much like a chamber kiln laid on its back
– easy to load, with excellent temperature distribution in the firing chamber and therefore minimal measurement errors
– designed for high maximum temperatures and for loads containing handbuilt, thrown and cast pieces of different shapes

A practical observation: if I made tiles, plaques and house signs, with occasional jewellery and drinking vessels, I would choose a ROHDE TE 50 QN or S.
I strongly recommend researching these kilns, reading reviews and adding them to your shortlist. Please contact us with questions or comments; we will gladly help. Links to the most interesting chest kilns appear just below.
