Welte Engobes

Ceramic engobes Welte are coloured clay slips used to decorate or cover the underlying body. Although engobes can be prepared in the studio from deflocculated clay, ideally the same clay as the piece, with oxides or other colourants, potters often choose from our wide range of ready-mixed engobes. They are most commonly applied to leather-hard clay before bisque firing.
