KD Colours – Underglaze and Inglaze Painting

WELTE KD colours offer a proven way to decorate beneath transparent glaze or into unfired glaze. They are popular with majolica makers and wherever the design calls for fine lines and sharp outlines. As their designation suggests, WELTE underglaze and inglaze colours can be used in two ways.
• 1) Paint onto bisque-fired ware and, once dry, apply transparent glaze over the decoration.
• 2) Glaze the area, for example in white, then paint into the glaze layer once it has dried to the touch.
In the first case the decoration lies beneath the transparent glaze; in the second it sits within the glaze, usually white.
Both techniques are applied before the final glaze firing. The pieces are loaded into the kiln and fired at a temperature suitable for the glaze. We sell KD colours in 100 g jars and 1 kg bags. Basic shades are also available in 5 g pots, which make up the KD-M palette of 12 colours. Apart from the considerably different price, it could easily be mistaken for a children's watercolour set. The KD-F QuatroColor liquid colour set contains 18 shades of 20 ml each.
